Feedback

We showed our rough cut for our thriller 'Elusive' to other media students in our class and we asked them if they could give us some feedback on the good parts in the opening scene and the bad points that we could improve to make it better so we can have the best final cut possible.

Positive feedback

  • A lot of the people that looked at our opening scene said that at the start of our video the shots used and the camerawork was very good so we were off to a good start as the shots were taken in the dark and this created the atmosphere for our thriller.
  • We thought that an establishing shot would be good to use and so did some of the other media students that looked at out rough cut
  • Other said that the props used were good, the costume that the character used to show he was a detective worked really well as he clearly looked like a detective. Also because he had the brief case this showed that he was going to the house for serious business
  • Also, they were very impressed with the match on action used in the scene where the detective knocks on the window and the shot moves to the woman inside the house
Negative feedback

  • One of the main problems from the feedback that we got was that as we were filming the change in day is noticeable as in one scene it is light in one scene and its overly dark in the next
  • People said that we needed a few more shots maybe some more close up of the main characters
  • Also because this was a rough cut we didn't have enough footage so the other students said that we should make it longer and make the narrative a lot clearer
  • Also we had a lot of feedback saying that we should change the credits to make them blend in more with the opening scene
  • lastly some of more criticisms we received was on the fact that we needed to build up some more suspense to to with the genre we are trying to achieve\
We are going to take both aspects of the feedback negative and positive and try and make our opening scene the best that we can. We believe that this feedback is affective because our age rating is 15 and the media students are around that age we aimed it at them and we are trying to make a successful opening scene
